while I do not have the same condition as this person, i also get negative effects from dark mode. for me, it's mid-term persistent afterimages after reading high-contrast white-on-black text, the world will look like it has scanlines for 5-10 minutes after reading just a short paragraph. i use a program called NegativeScreen for software that doesn't have a light theme...
