für mich ist der entscheidende unterschied in der sympathie zwischen bluesky und mastodon im moment, dass ich dort genauso viele leute mute und blocke wie auf twix zum schluss, und hier praktisch nie wen.

@incredobler It's actually a browser demo packaged as an exe, there should be an index.html in the demo subdirectory. You may have to serve it via an HTTP server like 'python -m http.server' due to browser restrictions on file:// locations. Needs a somewhat beefy GPU (1080 works fine with some scenes running at 30fps instead of 60), not because the demo is complex but because we took a couple icky shortcuts :)
PSA: "one of the only" doesn't mean anything. Sure, the platypus is one of the only mammals that lays eggs. But a cow is one of the only mammals that doesn't. Joe Biden is one of the only white male American presidents. You are one of the only human beings. The sun is one of the only stars in the galaxy. If you mean "one of the very few", say that perhaps?
I don't think you want to go on that road with most european language. All prononciations are extremely inconsistent. Usually when you start to try to be consistent you get something that most ppl would call "very ugly".
@newin it's fun to poke at English weirdness but yeah no human language is totally consistent (when it comes to pronunciation, romanic langs fare pretty well though, on the other hand wtf is up with e.g. french numbers?). Nothing to build a serious career on for sure but I'd say we're all aware of that
ich finde ja erfindungs- und entdeckungsnationalismus sehr interessant—ein schönes beispiel ist ein vergleich der wikipedia-artikel "fernsehen" in den verschiedenen sprachen und welche personen dort in der geschichte der entwicklung hervorgehoben werden. eine vielzahl von personen haben verschiedene teilaspekte der technik vorangetrieben. in den dedizierten "geschichte des fernsehens"-artikeln ist es sehr ausführlich dargelegt. aber in der "geschichte"-rubrik der basisartikel fernsehen ist es manchmal anders. generell tendieren sie dazu, die beiträge der heimischen erfinder zu boosten. länder, deren bewohner wenig oder nichts mit der entwicklung zu tun hatten, beschränken sich dagegen sogar manchmal auf die erwähnung von einer einzelnen person (z.b. john logie baird). die deutsche version ist sehr sorgfältig so formuliert, dass der eindruck entstehen kann, ein deutscher habe es erfunden.
okay sure but it just /sounds/ like somebody with a name as old-timey inventory as "philo t farnsworth" should be allowed to get credit for inventing /something/, although my first guess would be "a contrapulous fabulous whizbangery" that makes hard candies or something.
